Overview

✔ FSSAI license renewal is the process of updating or renewing the validity of a Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) license or registration.
✔ It is important to renew an FSSAI license on time to avoid any penalties or fines, and to maintain the legal right to operate the food business
✔ The renewal fee for an FSSAI license depends on the size and scale of the food business operation, as well as the type of license (Central or State).

When to apply for Renewal of license?

  • Food Business Operators should submit their renewal application for a FSSAI registration or license not later than 30 days prior to the expiration date indicated on the license. However, they can file the renewal application up to 120 days in advance.
  • In case the renewal application is filed between 30 days before the license expiry and before the license actually expires, a late fee of Rs 100 per day of delay will be required to be paid.

Non Renewal of FSSAI Registration/License

  • The non-renewal of a Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) registration or license can have several consequences for a food business operator, including:1 Cease of operations:
  • The food business must stop all operations immediately as soon as the FSSAI registration or license expires.
  • 2 Legal enforcement: The food business may face legal enforcement proceedings, including fines and penalties, for continuing to operate without a valid FSSAI registration or license.
  • 3 Reputation damage: The non-renewal of the FSSAI registration or license may negatively impact the reputation of the food business, which could lead to a loss of customers and credibility.
  • 4 Difficulty in obtaining future licenses: The food business may face difficulties in obtaining a FSSAI registration or license in the future if it has a history of non-renewal.Therefore, it is important for food business operators to ensure that their FSSAI registration or license is renewed in a timely manner to avoid these consequences and ensure that their food business operations are in compliance with food safety regulations.

Therefore, it's highly recommended to consult our professional experts at Sure Tax Fincare, to ensure compliance with the regulations and laws.
